I firmly believe that every student is able to make progress coupled with high quality teaching and the provision of the correct support by well qualified practitioners.  It is proven that children make the most progress when they enjoy their lessons and are taught by well experienced and knowledgeable teachers.

I graduated from the University of Essex in 1991 after which I began teaching in 1993 and honed my skills as a teacher working with a variety of different ability.  As a teacher I was responsible for IT and I gained promotion quickly as I progressed through my career.

My teaching experience spans over twenty-five years and I have worked in both comprehensive schools as well as a high performing grammar school.  I have secured outstanding results with all the pupils I have taught and I have the ability to build an effective rapport with parents and students.  My unrelenting pursuit of success ensures that I strive to do my very best for the students I teach.

My proficiency as a teacher has given me a deep knowledge of effective teaching and learning.  My last teaching post (for 16 years) was as an Assistant Headteacher at a grammar school where I developed my repertoire of working with high performing students.  As an Assistant Headteacher I passed the National Professional Qualification for Headship which allowed me to gain a better understanding on how a school needs to function to ensure all the appropriate standards are met. I have a sound knowledge of the 11 Plus Appeals Panel as I represented the grammar school at numerous appeals as well as teaching 11 Plus students since 2002.

As an Assistant Headteacher I strategically led the use of IT, developed the school marketing strategy, trained and coached teachers, managed effective communications and line managed academic departments to help them improve teaching and learning.  As part of my role as an Assistant Headteacher I monitored the quality of teaching and set appropriate targets thus enabling staff to improve results.  Ofsted have commended my teaching and leadership and I have strived to achieve the highest standards possible with the core focus of students making progress whilst enjoying their learning.  I have taught Year 7 to Year 13 which includes students in Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level.

My wife and I are passionate about teaching and helping young learners to achieve the highest standards they can.  We have two daughters who are both at university.  As parents we have the experience of the pressures and challenges that our daughters have faced from guiding them though the 11 Plus, GCSEs, A Levels and university exams.

I firmly believe that my invaluable experience as a teacher and father helps me to guide and lead young learners to be successful in their individual educational journeys.
